PUMPA has been a registered charity since 1993, founded with the following aims:
To support patients and their families by providing information about disorders connected with purine metabolism: symptoms, prognosis, and what help is available
To spread knowledge about purine disorders: through this website, scientific meetings, and seminars for patients and families
To support scientific research into the purine metabolic disorders: identifying causes and potential therapies
PUMPA organises an annual meeting to which patients and families are invited
PUMPA provides advice leaflets on several of the major purine disorders
PUMPA accepts donations from the public
PUMPA offers grants to support biomedical research
